That Matte RS3

If you follow us on our Instagram (make sure you do if you haven’t already…) there’s a good chance you’ve seen this special RS3. Martin Knight and his wife own this incredible 2019 Audi RS3 Saloon and having had it wrapped in 3m Satin Orange; it certainly catches the eye of any passers-by.

Martin has been in and around cars for as long as he can remember, and with a family that “have always been into cars and attending shows”, it’s easy to understand where his passion came from. In addition to the RS3, Martin and his wife are also looking to do a factory restoration project on a red Astra GSI in the coming years. We look forward to seeing it!

Having previously owned an S3 Saloon, the RS3 seemed an obvious choice for the next step and although initially looking for a Red RS3 the couple “got a deal on a Panther Black model hence the decision to get it wrapped”. Most of us can relate to the boredom of being in lockdown but Martin saw this an example look at some inspiration and put their own stamp on the RS3.

Other than the jaw dropping colour, Martin has also added some Eibach Sportsline springs installed by Deutschtech, Maxton front splitter, side skirts and rear spats, Vossen 20” CVT alloys, paddle extensions, Osram dynamic wing mirror indicators and front number plate holder removal. Future plans for this RS3 include a VLMspec MyTuner Box which is a switchable map box to make it stage 1 and remove the soft limiter, which is “due any day”. A full custom exhaust is also on the cards as well as a new rear spoiler and a custom splitter and diffuser. We think the final result is incredible and can’t wait to see what’s next for this build!

Any thoughts on the state of the current scene?

“From some of the meets I have been to since the restrictions have eased have shown me the community has come together due to the lack of shows. Most are now focusing on being static which I feel has brought out another level of cars to these.”

It’s great to see the community coming together in these difficult times, we’re ecstatic for when car shows are able to resume (perhaps we should organise a TLNTD meet in the near future, let us know below!). What are your thoughts on the idea of more electric vehicles showing up at meets and shows?

“They will come and it will change the whole scene. The power they can provide will change things but the want to customise a car will never leave, it will just be a little quieter.”

Finally, any ideas on what you might like to drive in the future?

“Would have to be an RS6. Having a family and being able to have that power and noise but have the room for the kids is ideal. If I didn’t need to be sensible it would have to be any McLaren, I find the design and technology in all their cars is something else.”

A big thanks to Martin for his time, make sure to head to his Instagram to keep up with the build! We appreciate any feedback that you can give, and if you want to throw some suggestions in for a feature in the future, let us know in the comments below or on our socials!
